The Patient's Chart

As a nurse in the emergency room, I've seen it all. But I've never had a patient like John Doe, the victim of a mysterious accident who was brought in with no ID. He has a strange, otherworldly beauty, and his chart is a puzzle—his vitals are stable, but he won't wake up. I find myself drawn to his bedside during my long shifts, talking to him, holding his hand. One night, desperate for a sign of life, I press my lips to his. His eyes snap open. He tells me he's not human, but a being from another realm, and my kiss has bound me to him. He needs my life force to heal, and he can only take it through the most intimate contact.
